This is where you stand over a hard surface like tile or hardwood, then drop both heels for five seconds before lifting them back up again. You should do this about ten times each day […]

HR-pQCT testing is mostly used in academic studies and generally not available or used in patient testing. I suggest you contact your local medical imaging service to see if they provide HR-pQCT testing as well as DEXA. Good luck.

Hi Paul. Margaret looked at your question and suggests the following.

“There are many conditions can cause pain at the base of the heel. If you are getting recurring plantar fasciitis, the source of your pain has likely not been dealt with.

I am not in a position to diagnose or go through a great deal of detail on the potential causes of your plantar fasciitis. However, there are common risk factors which contribute to plantar heel pain including, but not limited to, tight calf and soleus muscles. These, in turn cause a reduction in loss of ankle flexibility. Specifically the ability to pull your toes towards your knee cap with a straight knee (calves) or bend knee (soleus).

Depending on the cause(s) of your recurring planter fasciitis, it would be wise to stretch your calf and soleus muscles daily for at least 10 days before incorporating heel drops into your exercise routine.

Also, be sure to gradually build up the number of repetitions you do and follow up with stretching. I encourage you to seek the guidance of a Physical Therapist in your area. I hope the condition does not occur again.”

Hi Jaileigh. You should continue to consult with your oncologist and present your concerns. You might also benefit from consulting with a nutritionist or dietician familiar with bone health. You can contact Nancy Robinson at info@food4osteoporosis.com

After 10+ years on antineoplastics and other chemotherapy drugs, my T-scores are -3.3 and -3.4 in my right and left hips respectively, and -2.3 in the lumbar spine. I cannot stand the pain of lying in my bed at night, but because I’m very inactive due to my poor health, I don’t know how to resolve this. Besides the exercises, are there any supplements or medications in particular that you’d recommend? I don’t necessarily trust my oncologist’s office on this account, as I know she receives kickbacks for RXing certain drugs. Anything you could suggest, or any resources you might have, would be greatly appreciated—thank you.
