Lying down and getting up from lying down often trigger vertigo for me.

Hi Virginia. A good place to start is Margaret’s Exercise for Better Bones program. http://melioguide.com/products/exercise-for-better-bones-program/

Hello Raymonde, I do not have exercises on my site-specific for post hip replacement. The exercises and restrictions are dependent on the approach that the surgeon took (anterior or posterior). Each surgeon has their own preferred protocol. I recommend that you speak to your surgeon. All the best.
Margaret

To Brenda and Carrie,
Thank you for your question. In the instructions, I specify to tuck your shoulder blades under your rib cage to take the weight off your upper back and neck. If you do not feel that you are capable of doing this then it may not be the best choice for you. Alternative exercises within Exercise for Better Bones to strengthen your upper spine include the Reverse Fly, the Bow and Arrow, Floor M, Horse Stance, and many more. Each strength exercise in Exercise for Better Bones identifies which muscle and bones are targeted. I am sure you will find exercises that you can do. I wish you all the best. Margaret

Hi Marilyn, Thank you for your question. I am not comfortable providing a specific answer since every disc herniation is unique. Not knowing the direction of your herniation and how acute it is I cannot say if you should do hip raises. If you have a posterior herniation that is stable and you have been shown how to manage the herniation then it may be safe for you to do. I strongly recommend that you speak to a Physiotherapist near to you. I hope your disc herniations resolve soon. Margaret
